Our Story

Founded in 2022 by Ummisalma Aminu Ibrahim, DevGenZ started as a small initiative to teach teenagers how to build their very own websites. It began as β€œTeen Tech Web Dev,” and in 2025 evolved into β€œDevGenZ,” with a renewed purpose β€” to teach Gen Z women in Northern Nigeria how to code and innovate. Since then, it has grown into a full-fledged technology empowerment movement.

The DevGenZ Journey

2022 – The Beginning

DevGenZ started out as Teen Tech Web Dev β€” an initiative launched in 2022 to teach teenagers the fundamentals of coding and web development. It was the seed that grew into what we know today as DevGenZ.

2023–2024 – Quiet Evolution

For two years, the idea matured quietly β€” shaping the vision, building community support, and preparing for something greater. The focus shifted toward creating lasting impact through digital empowerment.

2025 – The Transformation

In 2025, Teen Tech Web Dev officially transformed into DevGenZ β€” a youth-led movement empowering northern women through technology. We launched Cohort 1, successfully training 9 women in web development and digital literacy.

2026 – Scaling Across Northern Nigeria

DevGenZ plans to expand its reach to every northern state in Nigeria β€” empowering hundreds of young women with digital skills and career opportunities.
By the end of 2026, our goal is to have trained over 400 northern women in technology.

Vision 2030

The journey doesn’t stop in 2026. DevGenZ is building a sustainable ecosystem where northern youth and women can learn, create, and lead in technology β€” driving innovation across Africa.

Digital Skills for 5,000 Youth

By 2030, we aim to train and mentor over 5,000 young people across Nigeria β€” creating a generation of digital creators and innovators.
